How Surfaceable tracks your brand's presence in AI assistant responses across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Perplexity.
What is AI Visibility?
AI Visibility measures how often and how prominently your brand appears when people ask AI assistants questions relevant to your industry.
Every day, millions of people ask ChatGPT "what's the best CRM for small businesses?" or ask Perplexity "who are the leading agencies for technical SEO?". The AI either names your brand or it doesn't. Traditional SEO tools don't track this — Surfaceable does.
How it works
1. Prompt generation
Surfaceable generates a set of prompts based on your brand's category, keywords, and the questions your target audience is likely asking. These are real natural-language queries, not keyword searches.
Examples:
- "What are the best tools for tracking website SEO health?"
- "Which platforms show how AI assistants mention my brand?"
- "Recommend an SEO auditing tool with AI visibility tracking"
2. Query execution
Each prompt is sent to all four supported AI platforms:
- ChatGPT (via OpenAI API)
- Claude (via Anthropic API)
- Gemini (via Google API)
- Perplexity (via Perplexity API)
Queries are run in parallel and results are captured in full.
3. Response analysis
Each AI response is analysed for:
- Brand mention — did the AI name your brand?
- Position — where in the response did it appear (first mention, second, etc.)?
- Sentiment — positive, neutral, or negative framing
- Context — was it a direct recommendation or a passing mention?
- Competitors mentioned — which other brands appeared in the same response?
4. Score aggregation
The raw results are combined into the five AI Visibility metrics (see AI Visibility Metrics).
